Sammy Update

One fun thing about adoption, is that our new "package" is full of surprises. We love to learn about our new child, and each day is an adventure as we see little guy grow emotionally, mentally, and socially.

So, in no particular order (because I'm too tired), here's our Sammy:

Sammy takes his new medicine like a champ!

He has learned to love baths--to the point of crying when he has to get out. It's all about splashing!

Sammy loves food. However, he does not like any cold foods. He will only eat food that is room temperature or warmer.

Sammy eats food with his fingers. He has not yet learned to how to use a spoon--as his nannies always fed him.

Sammy puts everything in his mouth. (Mommy is staying BUSY!)

He likes to climb on everything and stand on chairs. (Gulp!)

Sammy has had his first Heimlich maneuver done by his mommy. (Oh, my heart!)

Sammy knows what he wants and knows how to get it. Even if it means he throws his head backward onto the tile floor. (Gulp!) We are working on that.

Sammy's laughs is so silly that it makes us all laugh.

He likes to jerk his arms, legs, head, and body to get us to laugh.

Sammy LOVES his Cherish!!!!!

Sammy is beginning to like his new-to-him crib. (So many changes of beds have left him nervous.)

Sammy likes to ride in his stroller.

Sammy does not like stuffed animals, toy cars, etc. He only likes toys that light up and make sound. This is his favorite toy, and his nannies let him take it home from the orphanage:

Sammy likes the vacuum cleaner--probably because it makes noise.

Sammy is quite independent. He doesn't like to be held for very long.

Sammy still drinks formula. We've kept it that way so he has a "comfort food" that is familiar to him. If given water, he just gurgles it and lets it run down his face and shirt.

Sammy likes to push buttons.

He thinks the TV remote control is a phone.

Sammy likes to sleep on his tummy--completely sprawled out.

He can say momma, dadda, and daddy.

Sammy walks in a swaying motion--like someone who has had too much to "drink". His feet are faster than his body, and it looks like his body is constantly trying to catch up. He is hilarious to watch!

Sammy has no preference for male or female. He will go to anyone.

And, lastly, Sammy likes to sing. We love to hear his little voice, and it makes us smile!

We love our little Sammy!

What a champ, taking that medicine! Splashing around is a good time :) Yipes! That's one thing I should really learn--the Hiemlich--I've been lucky to never had a situation where it was needed. Awe, how cute, loving on that big sister :) How wonderful that he was able to take home his favorite toy! I bet it's been good for bonding too, with Sammy still on formula. I bet he has a precious little voice for talking and laughing :)
